On Wednesday 29th January Kippen Primary School held their annual Scots Poetry Competition, judged by local resident Mrs Winnie Dunlop.
Pupils in P3-7 each learned a poem to recite in class. The final 3 from each primary stage went through to the competition in the hall where they recited their poem in front of the whole school. P1 sang the ancient Scottish rhyme Katie Bairdie and P2 recited the poem The Circus. P 5-7 sang The White Cockade and a Scottish Medley.
The winners of the Kippen Burns medals were P3 Beth ‘Holiday’, P4 Holly ‘Social Dancing’, P5 James ‘Scottish Names’, P6 Jacob ‘Scots Wha Hae’ and P7 Lewis ‘Scots Wha Hae’.
The medals were donated to the school by the Kippen Burns Club and are over 100 years old.
Well done to everyone who learned a poem to recite and many thanks to Mrs Dunlop for coming in to judge the competition.
