Itchy and Scratchy!

There have been a number of incidences of head lice reported within the school.

If your child has head lice contact the pharmacy, take the following precautions to treat the head lice then please inform the school:

Use the pharmacy recommended treatment (certain brands must be used twice and others should only be used once, please ask the pharmacist for instructions), then remove lice with the regular use of conditioner and a fine-toothed comb, which can be obtained from the pharmacy.  You need to spend approximately 20 to 30 minutes combing through the entire head of hair every day for at least two weeks. It is important that you keep doing this until there have been three consecutive sessions without seeing any lice or eggs.

Wet combing, with conditioner, can be used for routinely checking the hair for infection. The best way to prevent head lice spreading is to check your whole family’s heads regularly and treat them as soon as live lice are found. If your child has long hair please ensure it is tied back.
