Hair hygiene

There have been a number of incidences of head lice within the school. If your child has long hair please ensure it is tied back.

If your child has head lice take the following precautions to treat the headlice then please inform the school:

Remove lice with the regular use of conditioner and a fine-toothed comb, which can be obtained from a pharmacy.  You need to spend approximately 20 to 30 minutes combing through the entire head of hair every day for at least two weeks. It is important that you keep doing this until there have been three consecutive sessions without seeing any lice.

Wet combing doesn’t involve strong chemicals, and lice can’t become resistant to it. It can also be used for routinely checking the hair for infection. The best way to prevent head lice spreading is to check your whole family’s heads regularly and treat them as soon as live lice are found.
