Vomiting and Diarrhoea Advice from Public Health

We have had a number of cases of vomiting and diarrhoea (V&D) across the school this week and last week.

A consultant from Public Health has advised that pupils with any symptoms (such as feeling unwell, nausea, stomach cramps, fever)  be kept off school as V&D can appear up to 48 hours after other symptoms. During this time they are contagious and risk spreading the bug to others.

Pupils should not return to school until 48 hours after the end of all symptoms. Some symptoms such as stomach cramps may continue after the V&D ends and this is a sign that the bug is not fully out of their system.

We appreciate your support with this. We will continue to liaise with public health over the numbers affected in school. All classes will be reminded again of good hygiene procedures.
