There have been several reports of absences due to vomiting over the past week.
To help prevent the spread of infection within schools all individuals with diarrhoea or vomiting should stay away from school until 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. All absences should be reported to the school at the earliest opportunity, either by phone call or by note via siblings where appropriate.
The contacts of people with diarrhoea or vomiting do not usually need to stay away provided they are well and have normal faeces.
We have reminded all children about the importance of both personal hygiene and of hygienic practices when eating food. Children have been reminded not to put pencils and other equipment in their mouths and to try to keep their fingers out of their mouths.
If any illness results in a doctor/hospital visit and a diagnosis is given, please inform the school of the exact diagnosis in confidence, as it will help in deciding whether any further action is necessary.
Hopefully the current absences will recover prior to the weekend so that everyone can enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend.
