Sports Day 2013 was held for the first time at Kippen Football Field. Despite the forecast of rain, the weather stayed dry and pleasant. Phew!
Pupils competed for points for their houses by taking part in 9 different activites such as long jump, javelin, the balance beam, football, hockey, egg and spoon, hurles, shop put and the obstacle course, followed by 2 races for each year group.
The nursery race and the mums’ and dads’ races were very competitive. Some secret training been going on? Thankfully the grass track reduced the risk of injuries during tumbles!
The overall winner was Ledi House, though everyone who contributed to such a successful event is a winner too. So many examples of great sportsmanship could be seen during the afternoon. Well done everyone.
Many thanks to the parent helpers who volunteered to help and score at the activities and who helped with the finish line and the places at the races. We really appreciate your help.
Thanks to all of the spectators who came to support. Hope you had an enjoyable afternoon.
Thanks you also for the loan of the sports field for the afternoon. Mr Connelly and his committee have been very keen for the school to make use of this facility and we were delighted that it was dry enough for us to make use of the space.
Many thanks to the House Captains, Vice Captains and Team Leaders. They had the job of organising how their house was going to be split and had to take responsibility for organising their team during the activities. Also thanks to the staff who helped with scoring, equipment and organising the pupils. Miss Hughes did a great job of taking pictures throughout the afternoon.
