In March, pupils from P6 and P7 went to Queen Victoria school to compete in the Stirling Schools Cross Country Championships. Everyone ran very well and tried very hard and Kippen Primary celebrated success of all our athletes, in particular Thomas, who won the P6 Boys race. However the Stirling schools cross country event is just one part of the Scotland’s school Cross Country events. Every year the top twenty runners from races all over Scotland go into a national competition and this year it was at Kirkcaldy high school. All the runners who compete are the best in Scotland and if someone got 50th place they would be 50th fastest in Scotland for their age group. This year three people went to the event at Kirkcaldy High on 23rd April after coming 1st (Thomas) , 7th (Charlotte) and 13th (Gregor) in their races in the Stirling Competition.
It was a cold day for competing in Kirkcaldy. We all found the course a bit easier than the Dunblane course but there was a lot more competition as it was all the people who had done well from events all over Scotland. We all did our best and enjoyed doing it although we were all a bit worried – Thomas and Gregor were worried about the race and Charlotte was worried about finding where to go. This stopped her from having time to worry about the race though! We were all pleased with how we did. Thomas came an impressive 3rd place in his P6 Boys race and Gregor and Charlotte were pleased with their performances too.
